MHT CET CAP 2026 Documents Required — Complete Checklist

By Abhishek Gaike··6 min read

Every year, students lose their category benefit — or their entire candidature — over a missing or wrongly dated certificate. Here's the complete CAP 2026 document checklist and how online e-scrutiny works.

Note: This article is based on general MHT-CET CAP processes and past admission cycles. Always verify specific dates, fees, and procedures with the official Maharashtra CET Cell / DTE Maharashtra publications for the current year. MahaCET Guide is not affiliated with any government body.

Why Document Verification Matters So Much

Before you can fill choices, your documents must be verified. If verification fails or is incomplete, reserved-category candidates can be shifted to OPEN, or removed from the current round entirely.

The verification is largely done online through e-scrutiny, so clean, correctly dated, legible scans matter from day one.

Core Documents Every Candidate Needs

- MHT-CET 2026 scorecard and hall ticket

- SSC (10th) marksheet and passing certificate

- HSC (12th) marksheet and passing certificate

- Nationality / Domicile certificate (or proof of Maharashtra domicile)

- School/College Leaving Certificate (for Home University determination)

- Aadhaar and recent passport-size photograph

Category-Specific Documents

If you are claiming a reserved category, you typically also need:

- Caste / Category certificate (OBC, SC, ST, SEBC, VJ/DT, NT1/2/3)

- Caste Validity Certificate

- Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate (for applicable categories, valid for the required period)

- EWS certificate (for EWS claims)

Dates and validity periods are critical — an expired or wrongly dated NCL/validity certificate is one of the most common reasons category benefit is lost.

Special-Reservation Documents

For special statuses, additional proofs are required, such as:

- PWD (Persons with Disability) certificate

- Defence category certificate

- TFWS income certificate (family income proof)

- Orphan certificate

- Minority self-declaration / certificate

Keep both originals and clear scans ready well before your verification window opens.

Document Mistakes That Cost Seats

1. Uploading blurry or cropped scans that fail e-scrutiny.

2. Expired non-creamy-layer or caste validity certificates.

3. Name/spelling mismatches across documents.

4. Leaving verification to the last day and missing the window.

A quick pre-check of your documents against your intended category claims can save your entire admission. This is something counselling catches early — before it becomes a crisis.
