When Does MHT CET CAP 2026 Begin?
CAP counselling begins after the MHT CET results are declared. With 2026 results already out, the engineering CAP process is expected to start in the following weeks and typically run through the July–September window.
Stage-by-Stage CAP Schedule (Expected)
The usual order of events is:
1. CAP registration on the official portal
2. Online document verification (e-scrutiny)
3. Provisional merit list
4. Grievance / objection window
5. Final merit list
6. Choice filling (option form) — Round 1
7. Round 1 seat allotment
8. Seat acceptance + reporting
9. Round 2, Round 3, then Institutional / Spot rounds for vacant seats
How Many CAP Rounds in 2026?
Engineering CAP is generally conducted in three CAP rounds, often followed by an institutional-level round (and spot rounds) if seats remain vacant.
The exact number can vary year to year depending on seat availability. Don't assume there will be 'one more round' to fix a mistake — treat every round as if it's your last chance.
Deadlines You Cannot Miss
The two most critical windows are document verification and choice locking. If your documents aren't verified in time, reserved-category candidates can lose their category benefit or be removed from the round. If you don't lock your option form before the deadline, your choices may not be considered.
